I am coming off Achilles surgery and haven't run for 4 months. I am going on vacation and have some time to read so I thought i'd try and educate myself before I get back to running. I've looked at books by Kelly Starrett (ready to run), "Unbreakable runner" by Mackenzie and "running revolution" by Romanov. I want to pull the trigger on one soon. Any advice or thoughts??

Not sure what aspect of 'running education' you are seeking - but one of my favorite books on running is by Tim Noakes MD- The Lore of Running - lots of research, science and practical advice. Hope this helps

If you're looking for something in the realm of proper run training, I highly recommend Jack Daniel's Running Formula. I follow many of his principles in my training, and have even applied them to my biking (mixed with Training and Racing with a Power Meter).

If your just looking for inspiration Scott Jureks eat and run is a fantastic read. I have a copy I can send if you can wait a week until I get back home.

Once A Runner is also a great read, but is a novel. Jack Daniels is good for the technical explanation side of things.

I really enjoyed reading Born to Run, it inspired me to get back into shape and active again. Problem with Born to Run, is just that it is a motivational book; it probably lead to my runners knee. Ready to Run is a "disciple" of Born to Run; however, Ready to Run is an instruction manual, it tells you how to safely transition your body to zero drop shoes while making you overall injury "proof".
