Bike fit on Shiv TT

To get myself over the BB (as my previous fit) on a shiv TT I've sized up to an XL. I'm normally on a Small 51 Cervelo P2. It feels great but I can't stop thinking that I'm on an XL bike!! Power numbers are up too! I'm 175cm with a 81.5cm inseam.

power numbers are up - aero position looks pretty damn good - if you can keep that position and are comfortable, you don't have much to complain about.

Doesn't that bike have a crazy module option for up front?

Those things are so badass and I'd love to have one but I was laughed out of the room when I told my fitter I wanted to get one :(

I think the module was only for the 2010 version? This is a 2012. I just did an 80k TT a few weeks back and held the position for 2 hours on only its second ride. Reading all the info on here technically I should be on a small or medium.

We're about the same size and this makes me want to revisit the possibility of getting on one of the 2010 frames

That is awesome. I'm also on a 51 2012 P2 and would have never considered an XL Shiv TT. But agreed w/ the above - the pict looks good to me and if it works for you, it works for you.

Always thought the TT was a badass looking bike.

Best,

Saddle height is 720mm and I'm about 2cm behind the BB and drop is 13.5cm. I've still got another 2cm of drop available but I doubt I'll get to that without losing power and comfort. If someone had told me an XL would fit I would have laughed at them also!

what saddle are you riding. I'm 179cm with a 730 mm saddle height on a sitero pretty much even maybe slightly behind the BB and I ride a 54 P3 with a 110 stem slammed. Would love a Shiv TT.

I'm on a Sitero also. It's a fixed stem on the Shiv TT of 75cm and I have the pads in the rear position.

I'm on a Large myself. 185.5 cm tall with an 89.5 cm inseam. Have it set up to be UCI compliant though in case I do Masters Nationals.

In case you want to use some different extensions check this thread for part numbers...

Cheers!

Edit: Sitero here too! Love it!

Here's a shot from a TT I did on Saturday. This is near the top of a climb.

Whats weird is I'm also the same fit on a small size 53 Giant Trinity.

I'd struggle getting UCI legal on the XL Shiv TT - think I'd need to size down to a M based on the size chart.

I'm actually happy with the bars though, they are comfy when I grab them from underneath rather then over the top. cheers

I don't understand this - why would they laugh at you? Ride what you want to ride. The fitter's job is to maximize your potential on whatever it is.

Can i just say that the bike is an absolute rocket compared to my Cervelo P2. It fits like a glove, handles like a road bike with awesome acceleration, and looks fricken awesome. My Zipp 808 would rub on the back of my P2 no mater how wide i had my rear brakes. With the Shiv I have the brakes about 4mm off the rim and can power anytime without any rubbing. I thought for ages about getting a Shiv Tri but to get the drop I needed I had to get a small and would be hanging off the front of the bike.

The key here is your saddle position. You have it forward (over the BB), which really "shortens" the bike.

I'm 5'9" (175cm) and ride a Large Shiv TT. I have the nose of the saddle just about even with the BB. Most people would tell me that I need a small, or at a stretch, a medium. But the L was bang-on for my Stack & Reach from my 54 P2. Pads in the forward position right at 495mm. I went back and forth as to whether I should be on a L (never ridden a L anything in my 25+ years of riding), but the numbers don't lie. I am in a position I can hold for a full IM with no problem. I may try and go down a size on the armrest spacers later this summer. We'll see.

If you used the rear-facing seatpost, however, the bikes get reeeaaaally long.

Same issue for me......I've done the numbers and I just can't get low enough on a Shiv Tri. I would have to be on a small with a -17*, 120-130mm stem. No thanks.....

That's pretty strange. I went from a 51 cm p4 to an XS shiv TT and the fit is spot on. But yours looks spot on, too. Nice!

This is probably the only bike that I would switch off of my p4 for. I did a bunch of looking and it really is the best option for someone that is short and wants to ride really low. It is a darn pricey option though (which is why I went with a gently use p4).

I loved my P4, but got fed up with the constant hassles with that rear brake. My results haven't been any different on the Shiv TT, but it's been a lot easier to live with and to race with.

You must not have the nosecone version.

That's the new Louis Garneau P-09 sans shield.

Looking fast is only part of what I was going for. The other part is actually going fast. More training will help with that part I'm led to believe. Haha! ;-)

This has been a tough TT for me to do well in.

Cheers!

what is your weight? because I have 74kg and my drop is just 10cm. I cannot get lower because will be kicking my belly :D

btw. have shiv tt M size. 179cm. saddle height 720mm and 5cm behind BB (so UCI legal)

isn't your 2cm behind the BB to far? because I tried specialized BG fit and the advise to have it 10 cm behind the BB or you are losing power?

I'm 70kg on average and my FTP is 305w

Its the first time that my TT bike FTP and Road bike FTP are the same. I was always 10w lower on the P2.

I would hit my belly too if I was further behind the BB ;)

I ride on a large nosecone TT (same dims) and I'm only 5'8"

It fits me the best and I'd say yours looks pretty good on you as well.

I also started on a 51cm Cervelo (Dual, many years ago)

Here I am. Hope its finally correct position for the rest of season.

Saddle 5cm behind BB (UCI legal)

QUESTION to Shiv owners: How do you fix position of rear wheel? Because can be moved forth and back and also to side. Its not ease to find central position. Any tip? :)
