Me too! I saw an Ultimate CF on the train (in San Francisco) and immediately assumed the owner was some sort of secret agent and/or much more worldly than me.

I bet some enterprising ST'er based in Europe could make a nice profit taking orders and shipping/reselling them on the ST gray market.

I would pay a 10% markup+ shipping for an Aeroad.

Perfect. I'll take one of these:

~$3500 + your markup seems like a steal after seeing the new Venge and Madone prices!

you wouldn't though I'm guessing - so, you take an ultegra for 2000 euros, you add 10% for 2200, you then add shipping, I'm guessing from europe 2-300, you then add on to that import duties, 10-20 again, bringing the grand total to something like 2750-3000 is my guess

plus you'll have paid sales tax in europe and not be able to get a refund - I'm guessing that it adds somewhere between 25 and 30% to the list price

3800 $ - Aeroad CF SLX 7.0
200 $ - Shipping from Europe to US
500 $ - Import duty and taxes
200 $ - Private fee (~5 %)
------------------------------------------
4700 $

Find 5 people and I'll ship them ;)

I am in love. I move to Germany from US in 3 weeks and will promptly be testing riding a road and TT bike, both of which may end up in my garage :D

500 $ - Import duty and taxes

The US has an import duty and taxes on bikes from Germany?

I read somewhere on Slowtwitch that the new bike would be "unveiled" at Kona.

While they may be "testing" the bike now in European races, if they aren't selling the bike in the US, it would make more sense to have the official unveiling at Frankfurt or Roth, its closer to their markets, and would probably have more if not at least just as much media attention as it would in Kona to the people that actually buy their bikes. No need to worry about what we think stateside if we cant buy it.

Doing the "unveil" and announcement in Kona makes me think the possibility of them announcing US sales is greater than ever.

Obviously this is all speculation.

Track records at Frankfurt and Roth. Even with skilled pilots, it's fair to say that these are fast bicycles.

Can't wait until they export.

Starky set the bike course record at Roth on the new Orbea.

Pink? Maybe. Maybe not. You decide.

Couple of guys rode under 4h in Roth a couple of years ago (in a relay though). So not totally comparable to Starky, but still...

11 % AFAIK

The tariffs max out at 11%, for bikes and bike parts imported for resale.

I've never paid any sort of tariff or tax when I've bought retail products from another country. There may be price limitations. I've never bought a $4k item.

I live in Denmark, so I do not know the specific rules for importing bikes to US.

Sounds like you can remove the 500 $ in import tax to US, and then it is even cheaper!

I will gladly assist anyone to buy one (I absolutely love my Speedmax CF).

Did you notice that the first article on this new Canyon featured "Speedplay" pedals but the "day after the event" the bike had "Look" pedals?
