Track your intake. I'm still amazed at how easy it is to amass more than 2000 kcals per day. That is what I limited myself to. With the way I was eating, I found it hard to stay below that 2000 kcal threshold in the beginning. Even on big run days (for me ~10 miles), I try and stay under that number. Some days it's easy, some days it's hard and some days I fail. But I start again the next day.

The hard part for me will be getting down to 205 lbs. But, I know what it takes. More work. Less food.
