Post NAHBS, the bike I built
Here are some photos of the bike I built and displayed at the 2012 NAHBS show in Sacramento this past weekend. It is a titanium lugged carbon fiber tubed Randonneur. It features internal cabling, internally expanding seatpost, polished and engraved campagnolo athena parts, Curtis Odom hubs, and Ghisallo wooden rims.

That is friggin beautiful. Absolutely great craftsmanship. By far my favorite bike show of the year. Congrats on a job well done.

Stunning bike.

But I'm also intrigued by the bolt heads of the rear wheel fixing bolts. Where do you get those, and where do you get the wrench to fit those heads?

Wow. Just, wow.

I was thinking about going to the show on Sunday, but I didn't make it. Now I'm kicking myself. I would have loved to have seen your bike in person. That's a sweet ride!

I'm not such a fan of randoneuring (sic?) bikes but that thing is a work of art. Bravo. Nice selection of components, both old and new. I love the wheels. AMAZING

That is absolutely stunning! I just looked at some other photos on the NAHBS site as well.

The lug detail work on your bike is beautiful and especially the brake post assemblies on the rear stays.

Woah dude - that is fucking SA-WEET! Seriously class A work. On par with Sacha White, Sam Whittingham, et al.

Those fenders are absolutely gorgeous. Are they easily removed for packing? How do the cantis perform on those wooden rims? I was chatting to the wood rims guy when NAHBS was in Portland and he told me that they "didn't exactly stop as well as modern rims" and recommended discs or at least cantis. :p Love the pedal cages as well.

I don't know that I could have resisted the temptation to run down-tube shifters though... To me that would nudge the entire package just a little closer to absolute divinity.

ya but where's the white paper?

That is a very nice piece of work, it makes me remember that cycling should be fun and lift the spirit.

l had to remind everyone that everything on the bike was currently available on the market and "new". The high flange hubs by Curtis Odom are are very vintage looking but the first orders are just now shipping. The rims are made in Italy by a man who is 70-80 years old and a true craftsman. Ric Hjertberg is importing them to the USA.

The fenders are very easily removed. They are the Crud Roadracer mk.2 fenders designed for road bikes without fender mounts. The arms attach to the stays/fork legs with rubber o-rings and the fender is zip tied to the brake caliper bolt. They have some great lines and worked well with this bike when painted.. I do have fender mounts on this frame and could have run "real fenders" but liked these for both their lines and their low weight. Weight is kept low by using a polypropylene plastic to mold the fenders.

Stunning.

The only issue I could see with actually owning it would the amount of work to keep it clean and awesome looking.

I'm competing against my current fitness level, and planning to kick my a**!

You get a pass on it being in the small chainring for it being such a beautiful bike.

Great job, that is some fine craftsmanship. Bravo!
