R.I.P. Jon "Blazeman" Blais
Jon "Blazeman" Blais passed away May 27, 2007.

He was a great son, brother, uncle, friend and Warrior. He lost this battle with ALS in hopes others may win the War.

Donations to the Blazeman Foundation or Jonathan S. Blais Scholarship fund would be appreciated. I shall follow up with the pertinent information for these funds.

Please keep up the fight that Jon started 2 yrs ago in his honor.

Blazeman, we will miss you.

Godspeed Jon.....

I often think about meeting him and his parents last October on the Kona pier, and his dignified manner as he watched others race, from his wheelchair. It had only been a year since he was a finisher in Hawaii.

Jon was a model of strength and dignity in the face of a horrible disease. I had the pleasure of meeting him several times. This is a terrible loss.

I will never forget the look on his parents faces when he crossed that finish line. What a tough guy, and a great story. I wish I could have met him.

So sad to hear about this. I saw him at Kona this past year rand it was shocking the change from the previous year when he raced. Hopefully his legacy lives on and a cure will be found...

I just recently re-watched the Kona 96 coverage with my wife again. We both were in tears.

He was strong, a true inspiration. He made a difference.

Jon is truly in a better place now. Living a final year on Earth with ALS is not a fate I would wish on any human being. Only the truly exceptional people ride this thing out with the grace that Jon (and others like him, such as my own Dad) did. They are the true Ironmen. We are posers.

Such a sad day. One can only hope that people (we) will continue to raise money and fight to find a cure to a horrible disease. This would honor Jon.
