Bike is done (pics) ..thanks Herbert/Litespeed!
I just got the bike back after getting the finishing touches done; cut steerer tube, carbon crank arms/FSA 54/42 rings and lowered the bars a bit more. Went out yesterday for a 50 k ride. Bike works perfect! Thanks to Herbert and Litespeed for getting me on this awesome ride and making me part of the Litespeed Factory Team.

why are you using carbon brake pads on aluminium braking surfaces?

Swiss Stops ...you can use them on aluminum and carbon surfaces. That way I don't have to switch pads when I switch wheels.

Looks good...but why are you using such long stems on your tubes?

That's all very well but you shouldn't use pads that have been used on aluminium braking surfaces on carbon so you should still switch them.

You should still switch pads because aluminum from the rim gets ground into the pad and can damage a carbon rim. Look at your pads closely after you've got some miles on the bike. You'll see aluminum flecks in there. That being said, I am assuming those H3's are your race wheels, so you don't need to switch pads if your race and training wheels all have aluminum braking surfaces.

I have seen the threads on here about pads and braking surfaces. I talked with my LBS and the SS pads work well when using them on both surfaces. I do check when I switch between different surfaces.

I use the Hed's for training and some racing. Use Zipps mostly for racing.

"You'll see aluminum flecks in there"

How did I get in there?

I did not think that I was made of aluminum, but I still ride an aluminum bike!

These days I fee like I am made of neoprene :)

Nice bike. Why is Litespeed putting a sponsored athlete on last year's Saber? It would seem a bit contrary to the essence/goals of sponsorship.

Probably because they don't lose out as much when they give 30% off retail for last years model if you join the Factory team.

Sweet looking bike.

Orcaman,
I have that same seat. It's light and comfortable, but after the first 100 miles on it, the thin black plastic outer layer started to peel off. Did that happen to yours as well?

That is a truly outstanding vehicle. Very nice! With all the carbon bikes I have, I still have a fondness for a Ti and always look forward to riding my 15-year old ti MTB. Your grandchildren can ride that bike someday.
