I got one from the guy in Ireland and it arrived quickly in great shape. Besides, the shark is worth it!

$450 for an used stem?

Smh...

Otoh, i wonder how much people would pay for a new stem. Could potentially pay for quite a few other parts on my bike

This baffles me. If the HTC TT stem is such a popular item why would Scott not come out with it right away? Especially with how much attention it is getting from Plasma owners. Why would Scott even come out with an exact replica of the Profile Design raise stem in a flat version? The TT version seems to be the better looking and functioning stem...

I run a S9 CC w/ my Plasma. There are no issues, however the brake pads did have to be shaved down a bit, and since they are thinner to begin with, I opted for the Zipp cork over the Platinums.

There are no issues with the frame clearance, but the limiter was the DA7900 rear brake. Even without a cable installed, the disc would not fit through with the Platinum blocks.

Shaved down the corks a touch, and they worked very well.

Does the new flat stem come in different lengths? I know the original stems came in 75 and 90mm lengths.

Last I spoke to Scott, they had both. I'd hurry though, I think it was just a limited run they happened to have.

Finally got my frame. Will post a detailed (and hopefully non-narcissistic) thread when i get all the parts (brake levers won't arrive for quite a while).

I have a few more questions regarding the Plasma TT frame.

-I think this was previously mentioned, but could someone confirm if I should use the long or short battery mount for external mounting? For the time being, i'm going external batteries to save cost.

-Grommets. Do I need these things for the Plasma TT?

-For those of you who were able to route the Nokon brake cables through the handlebars, could you post more details about them. In particular, how did you get the ferrules inside the handlebars and how does the Nokon portion of the housing interface with the regular brake housing? I assume you use Nokon liners and ferrules within the aerobar and regular housing inside the stem?

Thanks again for everyone's contribution.

Finally got to set up the bike 4 weeks after taking delivery. When i first received the frame, it was missing the risers and arm rests.

Hey guys. The flat stem from Scott is available, though a struggle to obtain. I purchased a pair of new 2013 frames from a local shop. One frame was defective (cracked BB shell). Anyhow...in the process of working the warranty i mentioned my desire for a flat stem and this thread and such. My shop guy questioned early on and the Scott rep on phone denied it was available.....however later in the dealings with the warranty department it was indeed disclosed to be available. I was able to obtain two of them. However they don't match the matt silver frame; they are white. Scott "claimed" they are the last two. I can forward pics if anyone would like.

out of curiosity, do the newer flat stems and the stem with rise allow full internal routing of cables? In other words, would it allow all four cables to be hidden and fit a small junction box within as well?

got it. I was almost contemplating selling my shark-tooth designed flat stem for a stem with rise as i had previous spent 4 hours trying to cable the front brake housing to no avail as the space between the stem and front brake was very limited. Thankfully things worked out...

Also, what do you guys do when you need to swap brake pads for the rear wheel? Do you have to pull the crank every time?

I take the little screw out on the crank side. You can then just slide the pad in and out.

thanks for the response.

i tried doing that but either the crank and/or the FD is getting in the way. Ideally i don't want to bring a 8mm wrench to races just to swap pads.

Are you using one of those allen keys that allow you to approach the bolt obliquely to make the operation easier?

Maybe I didn't make it clear. I take the screw out after removing the crank the first time. I do not put the screw back in it is not really needed. That way when the crank is on I can reach behind the crack with a screw driver and push the pad out and can push a new one in with my finger.

I know theoretically you don't need it since the wheel spins in the direction the pad goes in... but I'd still be mental about it. I may have to try this if I end up with aluminum rimmed training wheels.
