Thanks for the update. It now looks promising. Any of you provide an insight as to whether Ironman Texas or Coeur d'alene is better?

You mean overall experience? IMCDA in every way accept for me it was a long travel situation from Tx.

June in North Idaho is likely much more confortable than May in South Texas, unless you like hot/sticky.

I'll take a cold but clean Idaho lake to a big Tx pond.

DFWTri - Thanks for the information. After reading a few reviews, I may just sign up for IMCDA if IMTx doesn't open up soon. Aldo, I'd rather swim in a clean lake.

I live in The Woodlands where the IMTX takes place and the local paper said it should open up as soon as some traffic concerns are cleared up

Smart move. CdA is an incredible location for a race. Beatiful swim, beautiful ride and decent run course. IMTX is probably better for spectators, but overall I think it's a very poor venue. Maybe I'm biased because I live 5-10 minutes away from the IMTX start/finish area, but I wouldn't recommend traveling here when there are such nicer IM Locales.

Getting a little ancy for IMTX to open. Raced it this year, not only enjoyed the course, but really enjoyed the short drive from Austin with my children. Took the entire family to IMLOU in 2011 and I almost left them there! Love'em, but my kids (girls 3 and 5) are still to young to travel with and keep your wits. They can go from best friends, holding hands to a WWF cage match in seconds! Tahoe looked fun, CdA as well, but IMTX is too close to Austin for dad to pass up at ths point. Wouldn't be as anxious if I didn't see other events open and close and had IMTX 2013 confirmed. Come'on WTC, county commissioners, etc... get the permits/approvals done.

Interesting email for CdA registration from Ironman today:

"The event will take place on Sunday, June 23 and will be the first-full distance event in the Western United States on the 2013 calendar. 2013 IRONMAN Coeur d'Alene is expected to fill quickly, so those athletes interested in registering are urged to do so quickly to avoid being closed out."

Ya - I for one, like it matters, do not consider TX in the west

Well, I just decided and signed up for CDA. This will be my first so I'm excited even though it's a year away.

I was talking with someone late last week who is generally in a position to know all things related to local politics and sports wise. He said not too worry about it that there will be a race and we should be hearing something within a week or so. I don't know him very well and it was in a group setting so I didn't have a chance to press him for more details but he's generally been right on these kind of things.

I've heard June 30th as a possible registration date for awhile now and from a few different sources, and that fall in line with "a week or so"

I remember my dad telling me a story of a dude flyiing into Kansas City for work from east coast.
He was scared *%#tless because he totally expected to get off the plane & see cowboys & Indians. No joke! (this was in the 60s)

I heard it is not The Woodlands or Montgomery, but another city along the bike course that has a problem. I can only think of dobbin or magnolia, but who knows. They said 30 days out from registration

So now is end of July? I know everything are rumors, but any info helps..
