It is custom built by Litespeed. about a 57cm with a 76-77 degree seat tube.

Was this a Lynskey build or the new Litespeed ownership? Thanks.

Wow she's a beaut. I was interested in the older Litespeed models, but thanks. Have a pal who rides a Blue of some sort and he loves it.

I would measure the stack and reach figures of the Litespeed and compare them against the Blue. Its a really nice bike, but it does have a tall headtube and definately fits in the "tall and narrow" camp. The large has a 57.5 cm top tube at a nominal 76 degree seat angle.

Maxximus,

Thanks for looking at the Triad. kevin mentions the 76 degree seat tube but the saddle clamp has three positions so you can have an effective angle of 78 or 80. Also, when people say we have tall head tubes...well we do compared to a Cervelo (P4 has 105 on a 54 compared to 120 on our 54) but Scott, Ridley, Jamis, Giant have the same or taller for comparable sized bikes.

Our thought process was this. We are not making these bikes for Pro Tour riders who spend 40 hours a week on a bike, 15 of which is on a TT bike. Instead we looked at transition area after transition area and at the end of our research we knew one thing. We didnt want to see hundreds of Blues rolling around with 50mm of stack height and crazy short stem with a 24degree rise. Not only does the bike look horrible but it handles even worse.

As much as i would love to say "buy a Blue. buy a Blue." the truth is you should go and get a professional fit and take the geometry charts of several different bikes which interst you. find the one(s) which do(es) fit your specific fit needs then seek out those bikes and test them.

if you tell me where you are based i will try to guide you to a location where you can demo a Triad.

thanks again for looking at Blue

I am in Atlanta. I think that ALL 3 Sports carries Blue.
It appears that you sell them as a complete bike? No frameset only option?

and how about alternative color schemes? that SL sounds like a good ride, and the pricing looks good ... but those colors our HIDEOUS!
is that brown? or rust? goldenrod?
ugh

its a like those orange Yellow-Freight trucks ... why would you paint it brown if it has the word BLUE on it?

All 3 does is carrying Blue and they actually have a full size run of Triads for demo purposes. Give them a call and go check it out. They are actually the only retialer in the country right now with Triad SL frames. You really should see the color in person...it isnt brown...or goldenrod (whatever that is...not going there)...it is a copper color very similar to a shiny new penny. I had my personal rig at IMFL and Clearwater and got tons of looks and nobody complained about the color. As for it not being Blue...well that is silly...does SRAM have to paint all their high end components red? we make 17 different frame choices and only 7 of them have any blue coloring...but personally...i prefer Blue...but i ride an AC1SL in white/silver and a Triad SL in white/copper..

Also check out the Triad SP they have, if you travel a lot you might like having a real seat post and it's a pretty darn good deal.

i agree. i have pushed for "simpler" graphics here the last few years and i think if you look at the AC1 and AC1SL you will see that in the graphics package. However, i cant win all the battles.

I love the copper color and after seeing it don't think I could bring myself to buy the blue colored bike!!! I really like this bike but found 2 key drawbacks.

1) I need something with a bit more reach.
2) I struggled to find one to test ride.

I think the test ride piece is a toss up of minimal distribution and the ISP. I love the support from BLUE. They've been great at answering questions.

Breomonkey,

where are you located. we have a pretty good demo fleet we are willing to send around to locations even if we dont have solid IBD representation in that area.

Chicago. I think we talked at the Tri this summer. I looked, but not to hard since the geometry wasnt ideal for ME. If one was around I'd definitely have taken it for a spin though.

Chance,
Any chance you could post a list of where there are demo bikes available? I have been looking at the triad for a while, but would like to test ride it somewhere first. The only place that you list near me is Bikesport, which is currently out of business. Any Chance of you getting a contract with one of the other stores around Michigan? Or even better do you guys have a traveling demo program?

we have a fleet of demo bikes that we ship around as reps/dealers/consumers want to see them. We dont yet have a big 5th wheels with some huge trailer and 40 demo bikes...but we have dreams.

in Chicago we have a very solid dealer base from Albertos to Village Cyclesport to YoJimbos to Urban Tri to Mainstreet to Roscoe Village. ifyou tell me what size you ride i would be more than happy to send a demo in your size up to the retialer we have nearest you.

as for MI...we dont have a rep there nor do we have much in the way of retial presence. however, if you provide me contact info for the retialer you work with I would be more than happy to contact them and see if they would be willing to receive a demo in your size so that you might be able to test one as well.

thanks again for looking at Blue

I love my Triad. It climbs like a champ. I was fit at Paragon Cyles in Arizona and they were great. With winter here and 'cross being all of the rage, I am hoping to ride their 'cross bikes.

Got a buddy who rides the Triad. LOVES it compared to his (earmuffs... P3). Customer service is pretty insane too from what I hear (and this thread shows)

Seemed to work pretty well for Andreas in Hawaii too

Can you say "wrong fit" on the P3?

No offense to Chance's opinion, but the Blue is not a similar fit to P3/P4. We don't have to look at top tube and head tube lengths anymore, we have stack and reach. The numbers don't lie:

Cervelo P3 56cm stack reach - 51.6 / 43.3
Blue Triad Large stack reach - 57.7 / 42.9

A smaller reach and 6cm more stack is a similar fit?

I think your friend found the right bike for him based on fit.

I don't think Cervelo is the end all be all of tri bikes but I also don't think the Blue fits anywhere near a P3 so to compare the two is pretty ridiculous. Compare the Blue to a Trek TTX or a Specialized(in some sizes).

Compare the Cervelo to a Felt or Jamis.

If your worried about being fashionable, I heard the bike colors don't match very well with most tri outfit colors.

Uhh, did you actually read Chance's post? He (and nobody else, for that matter) is saying the Triad fits anything like the P3/4. Here is what he said:

"Thanks for looking at the Triad. kevin mentions the 76 degree seat tube but the saddle clamp has three positions so you can have an effective angle of 78 or 80. Also, when people say we have tall head tubes...well we do compared to a Cervelo (P4 has 105 on a 54 compared to 120 on our 54) but Scott, Ridley, Jamis, Giant have the same or taller for comparable sized bikes.

A pretty sensible approach I would say.

two things...one, thanks to Ontherivot for making sure people were clear on what i was saying. We certainly dont want anyone to think we are making a size/fit comparison to P3/P4.

Second, Maxximus...your opinion is wrong...just kidding. glad you got over there to All3Sports to take a look at them. did you take one for a test ride?
