how long should i train for a half IM and how do i no im ready for a half IM

I trained and did an IM with 6 hours a week.
If you can do an Oly without killing yourself, do a half when you think you are ready, assuming you are
doing it to finish. I know on my first, I bonked, and learned so much that it took me a lot of races before
I could say I was starting to race them.

This is probably too general a question to answer without knowing more about you as an athlete. I can recommend a good book on 1/2 IM training called "The Perfect Distance." My wife went from not owning a bike to completing a 1/2 IM eight-months later.
