What are Nike MAXSIGHT™ lenses by Bausch & Lomb?
Nike MAXSIGHT is a revolutionary tinted soft contact lens that provides excellent visual performance benefits for athletes and recreational wearers that helps eliminate image distortion and improves field of vision. Nike MAXSIGHT is available in two different sport-specific tints that come in both corrective and non-corrective versions.

Anybody know/try/seen this stuff? I can see advantages/disadvantages but still like to give it a try...

deechee,

This type of CL has been tried before without much success. The idea seems valid - put tint in the CL, put the CL in the eye and voila! problem solved. However, there are numerous issues or concerns that I have:

1. Most of the newer clear CL's have a UV blocking agent in them already (the tint itself does nothing to block the UV light).

2. Sunglasses help prevent the CL from drying out on your eye by reducing the wind, dust, etc. and they also reduce the likelihood of injury from foreign bodies (and bugs!)

3. What do you do when it gets dark?

4. Sunglasses also play a vital role in protecting the periorbital skin from UV rays. This is a very common location for melanomas.

5. Sport specific tints? I've tried them and I have to say you better have a good imagination if you expect to see a difference.

As logical as the idea of tinted CL's seem at first glance, I can't see them as being big sellers in my practice.
