With all the new behind the fork/bottom braket brake set ups, what are all the different side pull brake caliper companies out there right now?

Wish I had something to add. Anyone with knowledge, I second the interest in this subject.

Well, I'll start with the obvious one:

Tektro (who also makes Oval's)

Some bikes that require fancy brake placement come with their own proprietary brakes, like Specialized:

The Specialized brake, though a cool design, is not a side pull. :(

You have TRP, which is actually Tektro Racing Products http://www.trpbrakes.com/t925.html they are actually slightly different than the standard Tektro brakes, a tad lighter they have ti bolts and they have a cleaner look to them. We are using TRPs on the Ridley Dean's instead of the included Tektro.

OK, stupid question.... When did Tekro start making decent brakes????? I have to admit I just started in the road/tri world, but for Mountain bikes generally speaking if you see a bike with tekro brakes it's a sign of basement cheap parts, and worse if you see someone out on the trails with Tekro brakes, you generally stay away from them as you know they won't be able to stop!!!

they make a lot good stuff. the higher end side pulls the tp925 http://www.trpbrakes.com/t925.html in three colors with ti bolts and to compete against zero gravity they have the R960 http://www.trpbrakes.com/r960.html in silver and in black verry nice stuff

Hi,

I think the problem at this point is that ONLY Tektro make the aero-style brakes. Having tried the Tektro's on Kuota Kween-K and Jamis T1 I have to say they suck. Whether actuated by Profile, SRAM TT or Orfile Carbo......they suck.

I know the statement of "You don't need real brakes on a TT bike" can be said, but if you do any training on the bike, in the real world, you will need a good brake occasionally, as opposed to a speed modulator.

The Giant TT bike at the tour had some non-Tektro side pulls said to be marketed/designed by Feather. Maybe those will be better.

At the moment, the market is calling out for a better hidden brake ('cuz too many 09 bikes are using these brakes.

strange... i actually found that the side-pull TRP i used on the front wheel actually braked better than an ultegra 10sp brake. the ultegra brake had stock pads while the TRP had koolstop dual compound pads.
