I'm looking for open water swim locations in the Charleston area. Yes, I realize "the beach" is a pretty easy answer. :-)

I'm hoping for more specific information: parking? swimmer-friendly? salt/fresh water? safe & legal for early-morning hours? no boat traffic! Etc...

We're actually staying in Summerville (just north of Charleston) over Memorial Day weekend. I'm bringing my wetsuit & running shoes. No bike.

I'll definitely appreciate any info, guidance, & suggestions.
