Thinking about competing in the Oilman 70.3 or Austin 70.3 . Looking for feedback on both races and which might be better.

oilman is a well put on race. the roads are slightly smoother and the crowds are awesome. I have done Oilman a few times but never Austin. From all the feedback I would pick Oilman hands down.

I haven't looked but I imagine the entry fee is a good bit cheaper for oilman. I've done both races twice. The bike course is smoother and more scenic at oilman and it is much less crowded. Both times I did Austin 70.3 I had to wait around forever for my wave to start, may or may not be an issue for you.

why does it suck?Use the search function. You'll find plenty of testimonials. There was a thread a couple weeks back.

Is Oilman the same course that was used for Iron Star?

I've heard this race sucks... but it just sold out today. What's up with that?

Are saying this from first hand knowledge?

Most people were probably like me. I knew the race had a less than stellar reputation but thought "How bad could it be?" and registered anyway. Guess what? The race sucked and I haven't been back.
