I doubt they are warmer... very thin light material.

I like swimming without a wetsuit, at local club races i tend to just race in a tri suit, but it's hard to give up that extra pace to guys who wear them no matter what. The buoyancy in salt water feels pretty good just in jammers, but plenty of people still swim >2min/100m even with a wet suit.

I don't understand where the fear of open water comes from, it's practically the same as swimming in the pool unless it's heaps windy, i did bodyboard heaps when i was younger though. +1 to using roller blades on the run, i hate it when all the drowners pass me on the run :(
