If someone gets tested 2-3 days before the race (as they pick up their packet...like has happened to AG at Kona) is that in competition? Or is after a race, grabbed as they cross the finish line, the only time it's in competition?

It starts right after the "When does "in competition" testing begin" thread is started.
And our first lucky person to be tested is...... thisgirl.

Interesting question. Why do you ask?

1. Can I show up to packet pick up shitfaced?
2. But really it was something that came up in discussion about people taking things that aren't banned out of competition but are banned in (and the other thread about a loophole brought this up). Reading the USADA page a couple of times it refers to WADA suggesting to stop taking something X amount of time before in competition testing begins (cold meds for example) But I can't find when in competition testing begins.
3. Something I wondered about and can't find the answer to so I thought I'd ask.

The answer to your question, though (WTC definition), is:
"In-Competition means the period commencing twelve hours before a Competition in which the
Athlete is scheduled to participate through the end of such Competition and the Sample
collection process related to such Competition."
USAT may use a different definition, but it's probably similar.
I hope you're not the woman referenced in the "loophole" thread.
Might want to have your helmet on.
