No it just means that athletes can now bitch about Dan as much as they bitch about USAT on slowbitch, while pacing their buddies heel striking in gorilla suits trying to dodge USAT officials from the DQ. Meanwhile since the USAT officials are more worried about gorillas, there will be a draft pack from here to T2 going at 50 kph with most of the group soft pedaling at 140W. Someone will then cut the course and get a Kona slot. After this on Monday morning athletes will come on slowbitch and ask about the guy who got the KQ slot and where he came from, and a slowbitch style Spanish inquisition will break out. Dan will have to come on here and keep us objective and make sure there is no trial by internet. Entire sub threads will get pulled. The slowbitch hunt will save the day for Barry Siff + Messick and the offender/s will get DQ'd. Siff and Messick will thank Dan for bailing them out of a PR disaster (again).

Dan, I honestly had no idea that your background was that deep. I guess if you hang around here long enough, you just might learn something.

Absolutely ridiculous! Ridiculous that it has taken this long for this to occur. In what is arguably one of the most technically oriented, cutting edge sports, the man who basically invented "Tri tech" should have been there far earlier. If it weren't for Dan Empfield, triathlon would still be 30-40 people in wet bathing suits on Schwinns.
Truly happy for you, Dan - Congratulations on a great career recognized by peers.
