UCSB collegiate Triathlon

Has somebody here raced in the UCSB collegiate triathlon? I've been doing this race for the past two years (1st year it was a olympic distance and 2nd year it was collegiate). I always have trouble climbing the stairs after the swim. Is there any advice out there?

Ummm...put some stair climbs into your training?

I am a UCSB alum from the early 1980's. I did their race about 3 or 4 years ago. Those wooden steps coming off the beach and up to T1 are a great physical and mental test and it adds a unique feature to a great little race. The earlier advice of including stairs into your training is not a bad idea.

My advice is to consider testing to see if going up the stairs alone vs going up the stairs while grabbing the handrail and using that to help pull you up makes a difference in your time and comfort.
