I think I saw one of the HEDs at a local MN tri a few years back, maybe the inaugural Chisago Lakes half-iron.

That's gorgeous! I didn't even know Bianchi made TT bikes.

I don't know about him, but I go to a lot of tris and don't see those bikes. Acres of Cervelos and Felts and Specializeds, and a smattering of others, but none of these.

That GT can now be had in custom geometry as a frame/fork/headset for under 2k badged as a Tiemeyer. http://www.tiemeyercycles.com/

They are still very popular with the track crowd, lots of switching between drop and aerobars. I own one, I am not sponsored, I LOVE the bike.

That's just Chris G. giving me a hard time...I have a great story about him getting relegated at a cross race...might have to trot it out if he keeps busting my balls.

Wow, that Elite looks like a Titanflex and a Softride bred!

I used to see 2 of those regularly, I had a vengeance and a buddy had an aerolab.

Saw an Aria at Chesapeakeman a few years back, not many of them around.

I ride a titanflex and haven't seen another at a race.

One of the guys at A2 Wind Tunnel has one of these. It's ugly as shit and I wouldn't ride it without pulling a Crowie on the decals.

Are those wheels the same diameter? I know GT did some stuff back in the day where they'd run a smaller front wheel...IF they are different diameters that may be one of the reasons you don't see them anymore...

I think this was a 1-off, wasn't it?

i don't know if it's good or bad that I've seen all of these bikes in this thread besides the two Cervelos in person at one time or the other. The HED was pretty hot back 6 or 7 years ago but it was also really hard to get and a bit overpriced (plus pretty slack seat angle). GT weighed a ton but it still sure is a cool looking bike. I'm guessing anyone else who's been doing tri's for more than 5 or 6 years has likely stumbled across each of these from time to time. You need to throw in a Trimble and a Slingshot and then you'll start making it interesting;)

I used to see the GT Vengeance all the time. I had one of the original black ones, then had a blue one. Raced them all the time and knocked out IMFL 3 times on them. Great ride, but a little heavy. Also had a slack seat tube angle. The seat post assembly could come apart on a ride as well. I still have a small seat post assembly and the original Project 96 handlebar tape in a sealed bag- never used!

there was a guy named steve who used to win and/or place near the top at the San Luis Obipo Triathlon, Morro Bay Triathlon, Cuesta Biathlon (pretty much any race on the central coast) back in the mid to late 90's that rolled a trimble. that was one wild looking bike and i think someone rode one to a 2nd place finish at RAAM back in '89.
