Tri 101 Races - Elite Categories
My husband and I will be signing up for the Woodlands, Texas Tri 101 this fall, but I have a question.

I have emailed several people at the Tri101 organization but have yet to get a reply, we are wondering what the difference is between the age-group amateur and the elite amateur awards. Is there a prize purse for the elites? I know they are just giving product awards for the age-groupers, but they give no info on their website as to what will be awarded to the elites and how that category is being handled.

Anyone have any info?

In other events organized by HFP Racing, the elite amateur category is used to allow the fastest AGers to race together at the front of the field as opposed to being dispersed through the AG waves. I doubt if there is prize money for the elite amateurs in the 101 events, but I could be wrong.

I agree with Dave - chances are it's just a way to give you the opportunity to race with the other "guns" if you want to.
