My LBS gave up trying to build it. Too much of a PITA.

I looked at it closely but decided it was too much of a hassle to pack and too much of a risk to take somewhere that might not have all the proprietary parts needed. Otherwise, it's a beautiful bike if you discount the hideous orange red in this particular one.

Is this accurate? Is the bike more difficult than a normal road bike?

I rode one for the first time tonight. My rig is a 2014 Madone. I can't believe how smooth the new bike rides. And his tires were the same width running more pressure than mine.

The Madone is my dream bike and in the big scheme of things the 9.2 is only kinda ridiculously expensive. The Trek Superstore (or whatever it is was) cleaning out their 2016s for 3999$. If they had a 54 I probably would be unpacking it today ;-).

My only concern with the bike is fit. It doesn't look like their are any stem length options. Maybe I just need to check an H1 fit or project one option, but that is when they get really expensive.

Why do both photos show it with only one water bottle and cage ?

Was this meant to be pink? If not I think you need to find a new LBS.

I really want this bike. I was playing around on Trek's site yesterday. Too bad I'm not willing to fork over $13k. The H1 geo in my size is close to perfect.

Just wait until everyone wants a bike with disc brakes. Madones should be cheap

I LOVE MINE, LOVE IT. I had an Emonda as well which yes was lighter but this just does it all. No negatives, and I on Etap on it so 2 less cables to worry about during installation.

Yup, awesome awesome bike. Switched up from my Emonda SL 6 to a Madone 9.2 and its an amazing rig. Prior to the Emonda I had a Cervelo S5, the Madone is MUCH more compliant than the Cervelo was, and almost as snappy as the Emonda.

With regards to the earlier poster (grumpier.mike) with the comment about stem options, your LBS should be able to order in different options for bar/stem length. There are more options for Trek Project One from the dealer side than you see on the consumer website.

I've heard from a number of respected bike shops in the DC area that the mechanical Madone 9s are difficult to get dialed in, they said it really should have been an electronic only frameset...

I find this comments Intersesting . I have spent hours fishing cables through crappy bars and dealing with half-assed carbon work (FSA aero road handlebars with tons of random fibers to work cables through. The early Zipp Vuka road bars). While the Madones are supposed to require some mechanocal skill to cable, at least Trek spent some time thinking about this!
