I'm going to be in this age group in a few years. What do I need to know so I can respond appropriately in forums and sound smart?

I can't speak for the female side of it, but the four-year-old male starter pack includes a convertible (preferably a Corvette), a s.o. 20 years younger than you, and badly dyed hair to hide the grey.

Good to know. I’m going to jump over to the 60-64 only thread so I fall in the right gender-adjusted age group.

Lol. My wife and I have a deal that I can get a midlife crisis car when I turn 50. Although it might be postponed to 55 with the toddler coming along. Kids suck all your money!

I sort of have.. I'm on a break I'm calling a year out but it could become indefinite :-) Am missing work sort of, surprised by that tbh.

Having set my 5km pb at 45 a few years ago, and with ever stiffening knees/everything am wondering am I past it (probably). Yet I pb ed at my local Olympic race and at IM this year so I'm confused.. will keep trying.

Last year when I turned 45, I realized that mathematically I am now closer to 60 than 30. I suddenly started feeling old. After that I was able to read some Jack Lalane quotes and it's given me inspiration to not feel or act old. It is better to wear out than rust out.
