Swim Over Kick - Foot Problem

Have upped swim km's in a big way since Christmas and have seen great improvements but the extra load has given me a pretty significant level of pain at the base of shin/start of foot.

I am assuming it is just a result of increased load and doing a lot more kicking in the water but wondering has anyone come across this and how they had it treated? Could be just a case of sucking it up as the tolerance in the tendon in this area will get used to it.
