Stripped threads in Quarq Red: can it be rebuilt?
Probably a question for Quarq, but checking here to see if anyone's done it.

After about 3 years of near-weekly swapping of my Quarq Red between road and TT bikes, the threads inside the main axle are totally stripped. Has anyone replaced the drive side portion of the crank? It looks it can come out with just 3 bolts inside the spider, but with what looks like a Quarq-proprietary design, is this something I have to send it back to Quarq to get done? (e.g. I can't just order a new crank minus the PM spider?)

Just email Quarq, they have top notch customer support.

And quit cross threading things! 300 uses is well within the limits of clean aluminum threading.

Emailed Quarq - just checking.

I don't believe I cross-threaded it! And I believe the threading is steel. The axle is definitely steel, and I can't imagine the 48-54 Nm torque spec being applied to aluminum threads. SRAM likes this thing really torqued down.

It definitely can be done. Quarq will ask you do send it back to them, but you can actually do it yourself.
