Specialized S-Works TT Helmet
My apologies if this has already been posted, but it looks as if the Specialized (Mclaren) S-Works TT helmet is finally gonna get released to the public. Here's the link to the website.

Anyone hear anything about a possible release date?

I will be interested in the difference between the P-09 and this helmet. My guess is that they are pretty close.

Evade Tri may be more applicable for some people and a little cheaper.

Cost? I would want one, but I will wait until it is sub $200, so that will probably be a while!

This helmet came up in discussion in the Rapp wind tunnel thread. I believe Mark/Chris said that it is about 1w slower than the McLaren.

Mark said virtually identical to the McLaren and Jordon tested within 1w at 45kph. So it is somewhere between 0w and 1w slower than the McLaren.

No it should not but it is just too good not to have it.

What I meant was visor/shield. On their website it somewhat hints of having it but the pics don't show it.
  • Removable Shield has a robust snap fit and comes with both clear and smoke tints

Availability looks to be late Sept for the East and Late Oct for the west. This is per the dealer website and be warned these have been optimistic delivery dates all this year. Most items have been at least a week late.

How hot do you recon the S-works TT helmet is? I'm riding South Africa this March and temp is expecting to be around 27 degrees Celsius - 80,6 F. Do-able?

I'm currently riding a TT2 which is pretty outdated compared to the S-works TT and McLaren, but it has some nice ventilation and allow to pour water in through the front vent.

Cheers

It's hot. Depending on your position it won't be any faster than your current lid.

I wore a giro selector with no vents @ IM Los Cabos 33C / 91F and it was fine. At IM South Africa this year it was only 23C.
fwiw, a "hot" helmet makes pretty much zero difference to your core body temp
