Sign of cardiovascular improvement?

Can't get heart rate past 90% of my heart rate max according to whatever formula the h7 polar used for my age/weight 2 weeks ago.

Two weeks ago was getting it up to 94% in my intense runs. Now can't get above 89% during intense hill sprints. Sign of increased VO2 max?

Possibly...but casn also be a sign of over reaching or leg fatigue...tired legs become your limit. Im not sure I can even get my hr cycling with 10bpm of my max running.

I should note that my runs are faster and I've lost about 6 pounds since then.

Could it be a sign that my heart is more efficient than my muscles? Highest I could get my heart rate today was 169 trying to go all out on a 2 mile run. I sweat like a god damn pig....was afraid people would slip and fall on my sweat. don't do a lot of squats and my running has always been inefficient so possibly my heart is simply outpacing my muscles in efficiency?

+1 for fatigue as the most likely cause.

A sign of improved cardiovascular fitness is improved running speed or more power on the bike over any duration greater than 4 minutes.
