Shoe advice from Brooks Racer ST users

I'm curious to know what you Brooks Racer ST junkies wear when you need a more substantial trail shoe.

I love love love those Brooks shoes but I get hazed on steep and/or rocky trails when I wear them. Anything out there that is similar but better suited to trails?

Brooks Trailblade (a bit more substance, but a 'lightweight' trail racer. or potentially the Pure Grit (havent used them).

Ran the Lamp Black Trail at Triple-T this year with the True Grit shoes, actually saw several people with them, it was a much welcomed change from Newton's the year before.
