Because you didn't start the thread. :P

Two loops at CdM Beach. They said it was still cold at 61-63 deg, but it was warmer and I wore my wetsuit and I was hot. This is a good sign as I really do not want to wear a wetsuit at Pacific Coast Tri next weekend. Yeah, yeah, I know I'd be faster, but I think the heat I generate that won't dissipate will wear on me later in the other two legs of the race. Followed up my (roughly) 2200 yard swim with a 3.3 mile run.

Halfspeed started the challenge on the training log and I just copied it. I kinda like it; makes me feel like a pizza topping.

lol! Sounds like we need a "What Pizza Topping Are You?" thread. I'm pretty much a mushroom - kind of mushy and somewhat tasteless. Insert the obligatory "why doesn't anybody like me? I'm a fungi..." joke here.

OK, so the new guppy has tentatively arrived on the deck of the big fish pool, hoping to take what he learned from the guppy challenge and keep it going, in the hopes of becoming a... umm... sardine? Are sardines faster than guppies?

I had my first ever 40,000 yard month last month, so I'm hoping 50,000 is attainable. My swim today was actually a rare Sunday swim for me, but I'm working to get in more yards in more regularly. Today really was 2,000 yards of drill randomness, where I'm learning to treat my swim as "practice" rather than "training" so I can keep tearing down my swim and improve all the pieces - 100 yards of kicking, 100 yards of pull buoy, 100 yards of one-arm stuff, 100 yards of focusing on the catch, 300 yards of "putting it together", etc. I really just had fun, so I won't bore anybody with the details. lol!

I really just wanted to drop in and say thanks for inviting us guppies to join the challenge!

Last week... Whistler... IT band pain/tightness lead to a slow lap 2 on the run, but 11:28 was still a decent first go on a supposedly hard IM course.

nice job. no such reward from the TriRock folks for the swim prime.

19:30 swim split from TriRock Austin yesterday. Probably the worst conditions I have ever experienced with excessive plant life in the water. Multiple times I was trailing yards of crap that wrapped around my head and shoulders, and it even went over my head at times, making breathing an interesting affair. Hope I cleaned it out a bit for everyone else. Still seemed long despite the slowdowns from the plants.

the rest of my race was terrible, but I knew it would be (7 minutes slower than last year). 4 trips to the bathroom in the 2 hrs leading up to the race will do that =/. So i was more like half-ironman pace (or slower) than olympic distance pace.

The company president swam in the pool, as well, and made comment on the temperature. How much you bet the temp goes down by next week?

The swim is in Lady Bird, same as CapTex, right? Was thinking of making that my A race next year. Now I am thinking otherwise. The conditions of the lake just seem to be deteriorating every year.

Yep, same venue. It's still a good race, and the bike course is way way better than CapTex. However, next year Auditorium shores is closing for renovations for the whole year, which will move the transition area I think across the street for a loooong run in T1, and city officials are considering making that lake a variable level lake due to the ongoing drought conditions. I'm not sure how exactly that will affect the lake, but I can't see how it will help swim conditions any.

What we be really cool is a race that starts in Lake Austin, right under the 360 bridge. Forget about town lake. Then ride out 360 somewhere. Probably wishful thinking.

I'm tapering now for Vegas. Swam a few this am though

2 x (4 x 50 dr, 3 x 100 IM)
500 k
600 p/paddles
100 easy
