Seek accommodation suggestions for ITU WCs in Lorient this July
Quote | Reply
My wife and I intent to be at the ITU World Long course championships in Lorient France this coming July.(July 6th until 17th) She will be racing and I will be doing Sherpa duty;) We are having problems locating information about reasonable places to stay in Lorient.

We are looking for an economical setting for two that is within walking distance of the venue as we intend to take the train from Paris to Lorient and not rent a car.

Do any of you world travelers have suggestions that might help?

Thanks for any informed suggestions.

I can't give you any recommendations, but my wife and I hope to be there too (competing for Great Britain if we get selected).

British Triathlon use Nirvana Europe as their travel agent, there is nothing on the website as yet, but might be worth keeping an eye on it:

My wife and I plan to be there as well. I spoke with Depak Patel of Premium Plus Sports a few weeks ago about using his firm for the travel and lodging arrangements. He just returned from France to check the options, and has a block of rooms reserved and is firming up details of the flights and ground transportation. He should have a package price soon. Then the choice will be between a higher turnkey cost, or booking things ourselves and saving some $$$.

See you there!

I am trying to make my travel plans for Lorient-- tough place to get to! Any info anyone has would be appreciated.

Sciguy-- You said you are taking the TGV train from Paris-Montparnasse? How are you getting from the airport/other train station to Paris-Montparnasse? Can you take bikes on the RER?

No problem on taking your bike in the RER. Just avoid rush hours. It might be more difficult in the TGV though.
