Thanks. Probably 1.5-2.5 cm depending on what saddle I end up using. Would err on the side of more if you have it.

Just thought I'd post a few pictures of my Plasma for interests sake.
Just a few mods, custom spacer/risers to bring the pads ~1cm wider each side as the widest setting on the innermost position on the Pro Missile Evo was too uncomfortable.
I hope you enjoy!

I've always played with the name, just black electrical tape that I blocked out the lettering with.
Well like the name suggests, likes to be ridden hard & often!

is anyone here using wide wheels (e.g. HED Stingers) with the 7800 rear brake? i've mostly been on my narrower pre-firecrest 303 rims and realized that the brakepad clearance will be minimal. The widest configuration on the 7800 would barely clear the 28mm wide brake track, and the last time i used my Stingers i basically was running a single pad.

anybody know what else i could do? are there ultra low profile brakepad holders out there that may be able to help?

Thanks in advance

I have a wide rim on mine I'm building now. Just fit. I have sanded pads down a bit on previous bikes.

Here is my Plasma TT in training guise. For races I use a Reynolds Element and a trispoke up front (tubular, obviously).

That paint job looks epic everytime you see it. Those gold cat statues just make the bike look majestic though

Was looking to get a 2012 premium and was wondering if I will regret it when the new models come out in 6 months?
It comes with a 1080 tub worth getting if the price is right?

If the old models are anything to go by the changes will likely be paint scheme and I think they have all looked good and stood the test of time. That said, has anyone heard of any changes?

the current model is still a pretty quick bike and if it can be had at a good deal all the better. I love mine- it is fast, handles well, and is really easy to work on. There are a lot of rumors flying around that Scott might release a new one but nothing has been official yet. I cant imagine how much they would change it esp since they were adamant with the current frame in keeping it easy to work. Maybe they will move to a more integrated/cleaner front end but I cant think of much else they would do... just my 2 cents.

Cool, I was really gunning for the SC7.5 but due to various reasons I no longer want to support them.

So obviously the price is good since its a older model, but its still a lot of money.

Am I at a serious disadvantage with the following?

1. Some exposed cabling
2. Older model zipp wheels
-1080 tub
-808 FC tub
am I better of taking box rims and buying flo's etc?
3. 10 speed

In the grey its the sweetest looking ride I have ever seen.

No, if at all.

I would not worry about a new model this year. We usually hear rumours and see team pics well before the bike comes out and I have not heard anything.

The SC is a sweet bike, but the thing I like about my Plasma is you dont see them a ton.

I dont think you are at much of a disadvantage with some exposed cabling. Plus there are ways to make it pretty clean- just look at some of the pics on this thread. I have mine pretty clean so dont think much is lost there.

For the wheels, the 808 FC is a nice front wheel and one of the fastest out there. The 1080 is okay- a little heavy but still not bad in the aero department. Depending on how much your seller is charging for the wheel package, would Flo's be better in the price-aero trade off; maybe, maybe not. I would personally take the 808 FC front and put a nice disc on the back or a matching 808 FC rear. I am guessing the seller probably doesnt want to split though. I am personally using a 606 FC set-up for my race wheels and some eastons for training.

I am actually still using 10-speed myself since my training wheels and my Zipps are 10-speed and didnt feel like upgrading everything when I build the Plasma up this year. I really dont think you loose much in the gearing department with 10 over 11 speed.

It is a pretty sweet looking bike. I was really torn between a P5, SC 9 series, and a Felt DA. I had someone local reach out with the Plasma opportunity and when I saw the pics I couldnt resist it. Hadnt even thought of the bike since there arent that many floating around but was a great decision. Fits great, amazing ride, and is a pretty quick bike. The only downside in my opinion is the lack of fit options due to the limited stem options. I got around that with a profile base bar and a Zipp riser-pad set up. The other thing to consider is the seat post length you require since its a cut to measure system. If your position will require more than 7mm (I think- its at least 5mm with the shim kit) of more height you will need a new seat post or some cut piece of another to shim it up as the seat post rests on a ledge inside the frame. what year is the one you are looking at?

Thanks Guys,

I believe it to be a 2011/12?

the bike looks just like this http://ironman360.wordpress.com/...-the-scott-plasma-3/

Priced around the same as a SC7.5 Trying to get a good deal on the wheels. Maybe a $1000 option if I get my way.

Stock saddle any good?

That paint scheme is the first year I think. I got that one in 2011. The 2012 model was exactly the same though I think.

In 2013 they switched up the paint to a different style but still grey and dark grey, just the design differed slightly and they colour matched the stem to the light gold / beige colouring of the frame. I have that one now.

In 2014 they switched to the black and red but there is one or two black and white on this thread, I assume they are 2014 too.

if you can work out a $1,000 deal on those wheels I would take them over Flo any day of the week... I am sure others would disagree as Flo seems to be really popular on here- but to me can't beat a 808/1080 combo at that price. plus I have a thing for made in america wheels

stock saddle is okay, but saddles are so specific to the rider so you may love it or may hate it.

It looks like that Sebastian Kienle is going to ride a new Plasma at challenge Kraichgau this weekend. At least he is really hinting at it saying he is really proud to be the first one to have something new underneath him ;)

A new Plasma is overdue; definitely interested to see if Seb is on a new ride.
