I used this to cut the mast on my Plasma 2:

I've done a few bikes. Wrap where you're going to cut with a couple of layers of masking tape. Use a brand new 32 tooth hacksaw blade. Go slow and easy and let the blade cut and don't put much pressure on the saw. Probably the most important thing is when you think you have the right measured spot to cut, measure it at least twice more. Too long is okay since you get a second chance, too short.......... means you're looking for a new frame.

Well bike build is coming along fine… apart from one minor point. Tri pad stack height is about 4cm too high so have to get the pads lower by 4cm somehow! Back to the question a few pages back… can I get hold of a flat stem as that will make the difference up easily without buying a new aerobar!

Not quite true. If you find you have cut it too short, or you maybe want to change your fit a little then there is a original Scott seat raise kit, basically a shaped piece (like a thinner piece of the seat post with a lip on it) that you add spacers to and slot up inside the seat post before lowering it into the frame.

The plastic spacers come in 5, 3, 2, and 1mm increments I think, adding up to 1cm in height. I got Scott to send me one for about $20.

Failing that, keep hold of the excess cut from your seat posts. I had a couple of chunks 5mm and 10mm cut just in case. Simply glue them in place at the foot of the seat post and you're good to go.

I have also had the seat post held more than well enough using just the bolt … although that is obviously not preferential. The newer frames have a 'grip' painted onto the seat posts which helps. My original frame did not, the warrantied one does.

For various different reasons I have tried all of the above methods and all work fine. But if you do decide to bin the farm feel free to mail to me, I will pay postage. :)

Look great, extensions are lope enough to get away with dropping the cables out of the rear too, quite a sharp bend as they exit though, could you give them some more slack or is it not needed? Crank looks nice, I have a SRAM Force and it looks a bit jegged and messy, thinking of getting a carbon crank cover to clean it up.

Super clean job on the cables, best I have seen on a Plasma 3.

Was the Stem easy to drill?

Thinking about buying the bike above. I posted this in the main forum too, but copying here in case there are any owners who can help me:

I'm thinking about a Large Plasma 3. I know my stack/reach to pad center (62.5-64 for stack, 52-53 for reach). I'm currently trying out a longer/lower position, hence the range, but it'll be somewhere in there. This article says reach would only go out to around 51 or 52 max, so their max estimate is my min for fit: http://www.tririg.com/...=1021_scott_plasma_3. Not sure how much faith to put in that article though. Does anyone know if I can make that work?

I'd just be buying a large frame and using the standard 90 mm stem w/ 4cm rise, so I can add an aerobar (within reasonable price) to make it fit. Here's a video of my fit with a 120/-10 stem if it helps. I feel like I want my forearms further forward (i creep forward so my elbow is more on the pad than my forearm) and was advised I could get a little more drop, so I'm trying a 120/-17 and 130/-17 to see how I feel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFgR1-8mijM

Any thoughts (besides my dogs being tots adorbs)?

I don't think they are using the slowtwitch derived stack and reach.
Reach on the Large is 43cm. The 90mm stem would take you to 52cm to bar centre. Your pad centre would be entirely dependant on which bar you used, where the pads were placed in comparison to the bar and how much adjustability those pads had.

It does not sound like you should have much of an issue getting the right fit though, just need some care on bar choice.

Great deal on the frame! I have a 90 stem for that frame design if you want to swap stems.

Has anyone here have had success with using a disc cover for the Plasma 3/TT? it appears that the kinked shape of the chain stays make it really hard for a disc cover to clear. i'd appreciate any insights into this.

Many thanks in advance

I don't have a good answer, but I looked into it last year. I was convinced that a standard disc cover would not work. I think a molded carbon cover could work, but I haven't had any luck getting people that make those to make one for me. Might have to spend the extra bucks for a full on disc.

Shut up legs.

I think it depends on what wheels your have i.e. the depth of them. I am running a Sram s80 with a cover on my premium and it fits, but the sram is a narrow wheel compared to the newer Zipps and comparable wheels.
