Sarah Reinersten quote from Ironmanlive.com

This is a feisty woman, a woman who on a “Nightline” feature last summer said of lazy able-bodied people: “Honestly, I have looked at people and thought, ‘What a waste of two legs. You have them and don’t even use them.’ ”

Awesome - I love it.

If you look at her physique she is clearly very powerful and a tremendous athlete. Imagine the athlete she could have been with two perfect legs. Or rather: would she have worked so hard to be in such great shape had she not had this obstacle to overcome? Makes one wonder if perhaps her disability is also what made her the great athlete that she is.

Now that I know some of you guys look through the special needs bags for kicks, I'm gonna put some really weird stuff in mine. I can see it now. "What the heck was he going to do with a family pack of KFC chicken, a football helmet full of peanut butter, a 12 inch rubber dildo, and naked pictures of Bea Arthur?"

Surely, she has thought of that a time or two. I'd like to hear her thoughts on that one.

There are certainly quite a few athletes that made it "further than they should" because they took the "you can't do that" comment and turned it into "training fuel".

So many people with ability just lack desire and effort to capitalize on what they have. Complacency is the enemy of success.

Her drive may have taken another outlet than sports. But whether in sports or other venues her success owes itself to her innate drive.

Able bodied or disabled - SHE IS A KICK ASS ATHLETE and shouldn't be considered as anything other than a great athlete - her disability has been turned by her - into a great ability!
