Recommend a set of kick-ass tire levers

I have gone through two sets of tire levers so far this year. The old set was probably 8 to 10 years old and worked fine until I lost them somewhere out on the road. I replaced them with a set of name brand levers that broke the first time I used them. The second set the same thing and this was a set from one of the premier bicycle tool manufacturers.

We do you have that you can recommend that I can find and buy myself.

Thanks.

Bontrager are my personal favorite. I use at home and when I worked at a shop for a year changing MANY tires.

I've been using the same one for over 1.5 years - I have yet to replace it....that's how awesome they are.

My wife uses a flat head screw driver....it's how we met - she kept puncturing tubes before a ride - she was hot, (still is) so I "volunteered" to help.....she hasn't changed a flat in 11 years.

Spin Doctor steel core tire lever. You cannot break them and they are cheap.

Quick Stick. Only thing I've used in some 20 years.

Depends. If it's an easy rim-tyre combo, I'm happy with Pedro's, too.

But I usually don't train on soft racing tyres and wide rims. I train on Ultegra WH6700 wheels and Conti 4-Seasons, which means I pretty much need a nuke to get the bead back on. Lacking nuclear weaponry, I resorted to a Crankbrothers Speedier which has been a godsend. No more pinched tubes, no more bloody knuckles.

X2, the only lever I've used and its never failed me w/ any tire-rim combination.

Pedro's is good. However, when things get bad (certain tire rim combos can lead to this), I have a paint can lid opener that I wrapped in tape. Would second guess using on carbon rims, but it gets the job done without all the drama (bleeding knuckles, sore thumbs, etc.)

Another recommendation for Pedro's here.

Used to struggle getting tires off with my old levers, now they slide off like butter.

Bare hands are best for mounting the tire, but if a lever is needed in either direction I'd opt for Crank Brothers' Speed Lever (just one will do, honest). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgLY3HfTq3E

I use a Crank Bros lever that extends and hooks on to the axle. it removes a tire bead very quickly.

I was kind of joking with my last post, but definitely whatever you do, DO NOT use a tire lever to mount your tires. You won't need to, if you use your thumbs and palms ad just do small amounts at a time. A tire lever for removal can help on tighter rims. I just use whatever is lying around, usually a park tools lever. Doesn't really matter as long as it is not too sharp.

Michelin's

the yellow ones. Hard to come by but lightest available, they take no space. Once you go that way you'll never want to spend on another set (unless they are michelins of course).

Do you happen to have a source for these? Recently I thought I found a replacement: Zefal, but they aren't as soft as the Michelin. I haven't found the Michelin at any (online) shop (so far).

Well that sounds good and all, but there are times you need on to mount a tire. Period. Especially for some women. I have been changing tires for decades and there are some I absolutly could not get on with my hands alone. Used to have some bontrager lite rims circa 2002-03 when Klein switched from Rolf to them and Michelin pro 2's then 3's which I watched each guy in the shop fail to mount
