WOW. I think everyone (here at least) had written the German off. What a machine.

That was the most exciting finish that anyone could have hoped for. Bummed about Simon not being able to pull it off in the final closing meters but after having to close the gap so many times I can see how he wouldn't have had his usual finish.

WOW. Just WOW.

What an amazing race for Simon. Gets dropped on the hill, bridges back to the group, and then still has the gas to make a big move. Fantastic, unexpected finish from Frodeno.

Really great race! Congrats to Simon!! I cannot believe he came back after almost getting dropped that last time. Wow!!!

Actually I think at that moment he was being dropped. But Gomez ran into a stomach problem and the pace slowed a tad which allowed him to get back in the group. He had obviously lost his finishing sprint at that point but had enough for a medal. He made a tough run for the gold, surprised that Docherty didn't take it in that situation.
