hi folks - help me a bit pls... I am 182 cm - 6ft - and seeking for a new bike. E-118 could be a good choice - on sale there is one with frame size S - recommended up to 6ft. - so max for me... not optimal I think, but due to the price I am still interested in. do U think that could work? I am seeking for COMFORT - rather than plus/minus 2-3 minutes during the race...
thanks for your advise in advance.
probably a medium.
i've put 4 on XS (ranged from 5'4 - 5'7")
i'm on a S at 5'9"
4 on mediums at 5'11 - 6'1"
and one on a large at 6'3"
you might be able to make a small work, but would need to accommodate a good bit of drop, and getting your reach long enough might be close.

My e80. Few things i still need to do (clean up cables, etc), but for a budget build i'm really happy. Stealthed out all white with vinyl decals.
Next budget project build is a caad 10.
I wish the 118 came in this scheme!

Which Zipp black stickers are those, the matt, or regular?

Hello All,
long time stalker first time poster :)
after being sized at a LBS for an E-118 I absolutely love it but before I put down the $$$ I had a question.
Being right on 180cm I tried both a medium and a large and the LBS said it was up to me which I felt more comfortable in, at first I thought the large but then i though the medium may be nicer for longer distances, and
not being able to go ride it for a few hours im not sure, its definitely going to be the e118 just unsure of my size !!!
Thanks

The "trend" today is go smaller, as shorter bikes will help you become more aero....
Personally, I have no size to go down too, as I ride XS, but I do believe you should take the smaller size if it is up to you.

I'm 179cm and I ride a medium, with the shortest stem option. I couldn't get the extensions low enough with the large. I have about 145mm of drop, and 20 mm of spacers under the armrests. One thing you should consider is that there is a 3cm difference in handlebar height between medium and large, and that can't be adjusted...

For E-118 owners, have you run into any issue where the headset would get loose? What's the proper way to tighten it since there's a compressor screw on the top and a headset screw under the fork? I feel like I'm over-tightening the compressor screw which causes steering to not move freely.
Per manual:
- Screw the compressor with a 6mm hex key to adjust the pressure on the bearings
- While maintaining the compressor with the hex key, apply some Loctite on the threads of the headset screw and assemble it to specified torque setting (8Nm)
- Tighten the headset screw lightly in order to avoid excessive compression of headsets

I had to get a whole new fork due...so on reassembly I ran into this issue.
If I snug everything up to what I would think is "normal" the steering binds - but just on center, so when riding it feels like I am riding a chinese carbon wheel (vs a zipp). Not acceptable.
So I had to loosen the compressor so there is initially quite a bit of play in the headset system. When I tighten the big screw this is clearance reduced, but I can still move the fork and feel a slight play (wheel off, grab the bottom of the fork, click click). Again the play is very slight the movement in the fork can't be more than 1-2mm at the fork dropout.
It rides fine now and there is no jiggle or noise from the headset when riding.

Hi,
Anyone knows what the red knobs on the stock brake levers (TRP) on the E-118 are for?

If it's the candy red thumbwheels you are referring to - they spin a hollow screw that will adjust your brake cable tension.

Hi,
I am getting an E116 soon does anyone know if the BB86 bottom bracket will take My Sram Quarq GXP chainset? I have the adapter to make it fit a BB30 but does this mean it will fit the BB86?
Thanks in advance for your help

My E118, 2014 model. Made me fly this weekend at Ironman 70.3 South Africa on my way to securing a spot to the 70.3 World Champs in Canada later this year! Completely stoked!

Yes it will run GXP. No adapter necessary. Just get the proper bearing

The stainless version is only $35 though

Thanks for that
How much of a difference does ceramic make? worth the extra cash?

How do you like the QXL rings? I'm thinking about upgrading my current Q Rings to QXL on my 116.
Did you have to use a spacer for the front derailleur? We could barely get the proper clearance for regular Q Rings on the 116.

From talking to my LBS ceramic is not worth the price as they will wear out much faster and the difference is negligible.
