I committed myself to never getting a carbon mountain bike, but after seeing what Felt created, I couldnt not look into it. I was assured that the latest generation of carbon used on off-road bikes can withstand the same side impacts as steel and aluminum. I was ready to move on from my 5.5 inch rear travel bike [I also have a steel hardtail] for something more cross-country oriented. I bought the frame without first trying it, but the suspension is what I was looking for, and I have confidence in Felt, so I decided to build the frame up with some really good stuff.
Rode the bike today for the first time--on some single track with lots of roots, rocks and tight turns--and I have to say that it greatly exceeded my expectations.Thank you Sunrise Tri on Long Island (NY)
