PARIS (AP) -- American cyclist Saul Raisin was in a coma today
after a fall at the Circuit de la Sarthe race.
Raisin crashed Tuesday about one and a quarter miles from the
end of the race's first stage. He had facial injuries and a
fractured hip and collarbone.
Roger Legeay, sporting director for Raisin's Credit Agricole
team, said the rider's condition at first was not thought to be
serious, but worsened this morning.
The 23-year-old native of Dalton, Georgia, turned pro in 2003
and finished ninth overall at the Tour of Germany in August
Hope he's going to be all right. He had a lot of fans at last year's tour de Georgia. And I think I remember Herbert writing about him in a couple of posts.
