What's the big deal. There's always going to be someone with a very different opinion. The nice thing about this forum is you don't have to read or answer certain people's threads.
The last thing I want is a forum were everybody agrees, or can't speak their mind.

I for one, like the guy. I like him a lot. I don't always agree with him, but that doesn't mean I like him any less.

Then again, I'm an asshole - so you might want to take my opinion with a grain of salt. (or in Chip's case, a few flakes of gourmet Fleur de Sel, handcrafted by a Master Saltmaker on the Island of Re)

I also like Chip. I am looking forward to meeting him at the LGT.

I don't agree with his sentiments regarding NO, and he could have likely expressed his view in less direct terms. But, I am not going to hold it against him, or use that one sentiment to form a complete evaluation and judgement of his character and his worth as a human.

Starting a new thread on the main forum about someone or something in the LR is in poor taste. It's definately not befitting someone that is suppossed to be "better than Chip".

I like the guy. He has his issues. I don't agree with much of what he says, but he does have a distinctive personality.

He donated to the Red Cross.

He lent me gear for Lake Placid.

He makes exaggerated comments that enrage.

Like most of us, he is a mixture of good and bad. I don't know that any of us should be overly judgmental.

Chip, your approval rating still appears above 50%, slightly above Prez. Bush and Governor Terminator in CA.

He is, unquestionably, a jack ass. His last post, "...let them die..." not only lacked any thread of humanity, it also lacked any thread of intelligence, insight or basic human wisdom. You like him? Really? After reading that thread? Then, guess what...you're an jack ass as well.

I just read Record's post and I didn't see where he was saying that the general population ought to be left to die, it looks like he was speaking specifically about the criminals, looters, etc.

Maybe I missed something, but I don't think criminals should be left to die, I think the rules of engagement should be loosened up and they should be shot and killed.

That's refreshing. Actually ... it's American.

I guess as someone that has said some stupid/offensive things before, it's nice to know that there understanding and forgiving folks out there that realise that each of us will say things that are controversial, disputed, offensive, or just outright stupid, at some point or another ... and yet they would still prefer we show up for dinner. I think that's fantastic.

It won't take long for this to all blow over and be forgotten. We (ST) seem to have a rotation of "who's the bad guy this week". I think people just wanna wear the shiny black helmet every once in a while. =)
