I just got a powertap hub for the rear wheel and I want to know if anyone knows how to install the hub onto a Zipp Disc wheel?

I don't think you can install a Powertap Hub into an existing disc, the Powertap needs to be bonded into the wheel.

That does not make sense then there would be no point in buying just the hub.

I think the point of buying a hub is to build it into a spoked wheel. I don't even know how you would get the existing hub out of the disc.

They're right, I've never heard of a PT hub being installed in an existing disc, I believe the disc has to be built around the hub. I have ordered a couple hubs and had them installed in traditional wheels though. Did you order one with spoke holes?

If you want a Zipp Disc Powertap, you buy a Zipp Disc Powertap.

Buying the hub alone allows you to build up any rim with the same spoke count as the hub.

You could build it up with a Zipp rim, throw on a Disc Cover... giving you a Zipp Sorta-Disc Powertap.

Cost is the key. A Zipp Disc Powertap is probably around $3750.
Building the hub into a rim and adding a cover will cost much less.

What is your plan with the PT hub now that you know your choices?

Just cut out the existing hub and glue in the PowerTap.
