Still here, still fat, slow, and BOP - someone has to make you all feel awesome ;o)

Patriot Half, Freetown, MA, June 15 2019

1) Average watts: 147W, NP 172W
2) Average speed in MPH: 15.3mph (3:44, 3:38 moving)
3) Distance: 56.0 miles
4) Rider weight: 175lbs, 5'3"
5) Describe bike and wheels: Felt IA16; Jet+ 6
6) Misc notes: 2015' of climb does not favour this Athena! Wind picked up on second loop. Had to stop and let the flying insect out of my helmet, which added a minute, and I need to practise bottle handups so I don't have to stop and refill at aid stations.
7) Optional - a picture of you in your aero position:

2) Average speed in MPH: 21.2mph
3) Distance: 24 mi
4) Rider weight: 137-ish lbs, 5'9"
5) Describe bike and wheels: 2011 Cannondale slice, Hed Jet+ 6, GP4000sii 23c, latex tubes, castelli free sanremo suit, bontrager ballista helmet...and hairy legs. PM is a favero assioma one sided.
6) Misc notes: Litchfield hills Oly in CT, 1450' elev gain. Not much to really complain about, slight breeze but didn't have too big an effect, course pretty sheltered. Some milled pavement, but also some very freshly paved.
7) no pic

Don't Tread on my Tri
AP: 248/NP 255
MPH: 23.3
12.77 miles
155lbs
2013 Cervelo P5-6, Enve 8.9 wheels, Smith Optics TT helmet
Misc: Texas chip seal nearly the entire route. Curious point: I pushed 255 @23.1mph last weekend on a similar course using a Zipp Super 9 Tubular (disc) instead of my Enve 8.9 rear. This week, Enve rear, seven less watts and and .2mph faster. Has anyone had an experience that suggested a disc might not be the fastest option for their setup? Not trying to hijack the thread, just curious.

Calaveras Time Trial

AP: 257/NP 265
MPH: 23.8
10 miles out and back with mile long climb at 3.5%, turnaround at the top
169 lbs
Argon 18 E-116, Flo 60/45, Giro Aerohead MIPS

Excuses: Other than the fact that my position is atrocious I messed up my pacing and was a bit conservative, didn't feel like I completely emptied the tank as I crossed the finish line.

Rock Hill race series 3k

1.) 353w
2.) 28.43 mph
3.) 3km
4.) 179lbs+bike
5.) Fuji Track Elite, Walker Bros Disc / No name 5 spoke, 53/14, Aerohead Ultimate, Velotec,
6.) I've got a horrible start, did a kilo before this, didn't pace well. Overall, real bad. Also playing with cockpit setup, not exactly tuned. Worst of all, in the podium picture my mom didn't recognize me and thought I was Heath (Ex-Cyclist) who is probably 2ft taller and 30lbs lighter than me. :D

The course was nothing but turns including three dead stop turnarounds. Really hard to get into a rhythm. Fun nonetheless.

1) No Idea...power meter apparently died between my last ride an this race...three days man ugh.
2) 16.7, slower than desired.
3) 25 Miles, rolling hills to a peak and then rolling hills down
4) 206 pounds
5) Argont E-119 With HED JET 6+
6) So....I popped my valve extender untangling the bikes in the back of my Explorer and almost didn't race. But got an 80mm tube from Moxie Multisport who was on site. Gave myself a mechanical by not realigning my chain when I put the wheel back on to have tension so my Di2 wasn't working on the rear cog for 6 miles before I hopped off and fixed it.
7) Optional: a picture (or link to a picture) of you in your aero position.

Your head is soooo low. What are you doing to achieve this position? Rounding your back? Shrugging? What else?

Very jealous how your helmet just disappears.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Ft Desoto summer race series: (Aquabike) 1/2 mile swim, 2 loops of the park on the bike, advertised as 20 miles but it's 19.15

1) Average watts 170 average 173 np
2) Average speed in MPH 21.8
3) Distance 19.15m
4) Rider weight 155lbs
5) Trek SC, xxx6 front and back, Giro Vanquish helmet, Kiwami Tri Suit (thanks anthonypat)
6) The road surface is not good at all and the swim conditions were surfable if I had thought to bring my board. My 170w average is 15% under my best 20 min average watts. I'm a skinny 66 year old but I did knock off 40 seconds from last year so maybe I still have room to improve. I won my division (50 and over)

T-Rex Triathlon Series near Brighton, MI. Made big #gainz. June race was after a trip that included big training (for me) + mountain biking and beer drinking with the wife. July race numbers with June in parentheses for comparison. Powertap left only power.

1. 232 AP/ 246 NP (192/ 211)
2. 23mph (22mph)
3. 12.4 miles
4. 6'4", somewhere around 177lb
5. 2012 Felt S22, Flo 60 front/ regular wheel with disc cover back, GP5000s with latex tubes, old used LG something helmet, sleeved tri kit (sleeveless in June).
6. Rolling, open course, decent roads for Michigan, two turnarounds. I swam faster in July and ran 20:44 off the bike compared to 21:51 in June. Weather was slightly cooler in July, but more importantly I had a bunch of time training in heat between the races so July felt cooler.

1) AP: 227 / NP: 239 / Best 20 min power: 242
2) 24.9 MPH
3) 12.5 miles
4) 142 pounds race morning
5) CD0.1, Prosvet 40mm basebar, FC25 BTA, 50mm Novatec wheels, Aerohead
6) Actually felt really good. Still working on pacing with power, but I was happy with the results. 6 races with power this year and this was my most consistent. Mostly flat course. Was hoping to hit 250 as my best 20 minute power.

Wow. Have you plugged that into Best Bike split or do you happen to know what your CDA is because that is crazy fast for that power...

I have estimated my Cda is around 0.198 or something in that race. Need to go do some testing in the velodrome next winter to hone that position and gears to get a bit off. And yes, disc might be coming next year, maybe cervelo p5 as that is a bit lower and longer and this p2 seems to be bit tight and no more room to extend in easy way.
