I know (hope) your comment is tongue in cheek, but you do know power to speed is not linear? Also, you're leaving out NP on a course that has ~90 feet of climbing per mile?

FWIW, I know a guy that would be ~ 70 watts to run the same speed on a flattish course. ;)

Had an off year so gained some weight usually race around 185 I also had not been on the TT bike in 8 months only did one 45 min ride 2 days prior on it. I really feel like I have some other low hanging fruit though besides the weight.

I Think I can get my position lower, maybe a new helmet with some weight loss and shave my legs for the first time to improve?!

Santa Cruz 70.3

1. 288w avg, 293w np (power2max ngeco)
2. 25.34 mph, 2:12:42
3. 55.96 miles
4. 6'3", 170lbs
5. Ceepo Shadow-R 1x, Princeton Carbonworks Wake 6560 disc, Vision Metron Aerobar, Wattie Ink Speedsuit, Giro Empire ACC shoes, LG P-09
6. Paced relatively well considering the headwind on the way out (299 NP out). Still no disc disc because still no $$$. Rode with Sean Harrington most of the race but couldn't really drop him so didn't feel the need to push way to hard for the last 30 minutes.

6) I felt like I rode well but I average slightly under what I wanted to do (goal was 280). Partly due to the wind on the out and back course. But did 281 avg and 289 np, with the head wind and did, 266 avg and 273 np, on the way back with the tailwind.
7) Only photos I have

Looks like our power numbers/finish times line up fairly well. I had 10 more watts and a little under 2 minutes less and am a little heavier than you.

Yea, not really that far apart time wise. I wonder what I would have to average to ride the 2:12 you rode? BTW, good job out there! You had a pretty stellar all around day!!

Santa Cruz 70.3

1) 228 avg , 238 n.p (stages 3rd. gen 105)
2) 24.4 mph, 2:17:39

5) 2018 Cervelo P2, 3T Aura Pro Aero Bar, HED Jet 6+ 60/90, GP5000s, Shimano TR-09 (custom pink paint by moi), Safetti Aero skinsuit
6) First off, yes, an aero helmet is missing and in its place a slow, swiss cheese-like head basket. Hopefully getting that taken care of before the next big race. This was my first Ironman 70.3 so stayed conservative and tuned out power for the most part. Happy with how the ride ended up! Crazy strong headwind out, next to nothing on the way back.

Curious how 270W. translated to 29.9 MPH with 170 lb rider weight? Was the course a point to point with a tailwind or something?

Do you have any pictures from the races or anything with your current position? Seems like there might be some room for position improvement there. What did you have your CDA set to in BBS? Great power!
