Crowe 3:41 down. So if he only loses another 5 & can run 2:42...Kienle would have to run 2:51. Frodissimo best positioned only 1:10 back. If he runs 2:46-48 he wins with having flat tire. Unless Nils can run? Don't know his pedigree. Van Lierde there too & he can run 2:48 so he & Frodissimo looking good.

On women's side Joyce....wow, really well positioned & looked like she was riding a Sunday cruise ride when on camera up to Hawi.

I was thinking the same thing. Kind of wondering if there are any Falcos out there today.

This might be the longest interview ever. Worse- I have no idea what they are talking about. I tuned it out in the first 6 seconds of the WM guy talking

Men through 75 miles, gonna be a lonely ride home for almost everyone this year. Finally a normal wind year, shows you what it really means to have them to the race tactics.

Here are the men's splits through 75 miles. Maik Twelsiek is pushing really hard at the front now - his countryman Sebastian Kienle is quite happy to keep up and open up more time on the men chasing behind.

Best practices, reducing their footprint, set goals and striving on the journey....blah blah blah.....It's the weekend! I hear enough of that nonsense during the week.

The Ironmanlive.com Leaderboard has an entertaining column entitled "estimated finish time". Maik (currently leading at 9:59 and Paul Matthews (currently 4min back) at 7:33.

I'd say the small number under the rank in the leaderboard is rank change since last split.

All the men runners are suffering big time. The bikers are taking it to them this year, Potts is the closest runner at just over 4 minutes. Looks to me that it is going to be won on the bike this year, unless you expect every one of the top 10 right now are going to blow on the run. I figure at least a couple of them will have sub 2;55 runs, probably all it will take to win this year from the looks of it..

Oh shit. Looks like Frodo flat cost a lot being 7 back. Riding with Crowie. So they're going to have to run 2:40. That is a big ask.

Are these splits accurate? How does Frodeno go from 1:08 back at race time 3:20 to 7:15 back at race time 3:59?? And the others he was riding with are still in the same spots. Another flat??

Nope a penalty. The morons on the IM stream just focus too much on choclate milk instead of contacting race directors about what's going on. The GermanTV figured it out already ;)

7:15 minus ~ 3:20 is ~ 4 min. Yellow tent seems like the detour he took

When one dude has the tailwind and going downhill while the other is climbing, the time differential is greater. He makes it up and gets his tail/ down while the first dude flattens out, he catches up.

Edit: That. or a penalty

That's the best hypothesis that I've heard! I sure don't have anything better.
Are they updating the age group leaderboard, to reflect present position at the last mat? It sure doesn't match "estimated finish time".
