Fingers crossed they have a few extra referees out on course for both pro fields...
Swim start is going to be chaos. Should be a blast though.

What’s it like to be a spectator at this race? Never even conducted watching a tri instead of participating, but having the GOAT real close by might be reason enough to head over.

I have loads of friends that are doing the race, and I’ve spectated it 4 or 5 times. It’s really spectator friendly for the swim and the run, and while they are on the bike you can go have pancakes and coffee.

I’m signed up for the race and considering spectating instead to have a chance to watch Jan in person.
The start lists are making me more compelled to spectate.

Injured my knee months ago and havent been able to train. AirBNB was nonrefundable, got 50% back on my Oceanside registration. So still headed down for a spectating vacation--a spect-cation?

The OP meant, “is fire”, like the kids said 4 years ago. Lets see how many of the pros show up and who’s in race ready shape, and who turns their ankle or has a preready excuse prior.

Sorry, I meant to say: “this start list slaps, fr”
I had to ask my zoomer daughter how to say it in current lingo.

Paula already said on her pod that she's not sure she'll be racing. Eric is in though.

Looks like they are travelling to the US currently. Maybe a warmup for Texas?
I’d be thrilled if so, I’m a big fan of Kat’s. I’m also over from the UK on a family road trip around California and when I was planning the trip, would you believe it, we just happened to be passing through Oceanside on the date of the race ;) so of course I signed up. Slightly disappointed that it means I won’t get to watch though!

World Champion Bergère features but McElroy doesn't reach the 'mention threshold' - within seconds of one another at Abu Dhabi.
Have to chuckle at "Sanders . . . will likely relish a battle with Frodeno". Maybe a chat on the beach with Sanders explaining how his surf training has been going and then a chat at the end to ask what went wrong with nutrition this (Oceanside) time. Just hope Frodeno is now robust enough and ready to run for 13 miles.
I see George Goodwin (#3 in that first PTO race: 2020 Daytona) is also on the list, as is the @realbdeal OTP.
1 Laundry Jackson CAN
2 Frodeno Jan GER
3 Kanute Ben USA
4 Sanders Lionel CAN
5 Taagholt Miki DNK
6 Long Sam USA
7 West Jason USA
8 Bergère Léo FRA
9 Foley Trevor USA
10 Appleton Sam AUS
11 Leiferman Chris USA
12 Aernouts Bart BEL
13 Potts Andy USA
13 Lagerstrom Eric USA
14 Taccone Luciano ARG
15 Svenningsson Rasmus SWE
16 McElroy Matt USA

Despite the results showing something else, he has somehow convinced all his die-hard fans (including whoever is the guy that wrote the article) that is always between him and Frodo. Or between him and the Norwegians.
Our local boy Jack Laundry, only gets a modest "defending champion" mention. As if he did not beat Sanders, Brownlee, Von Berg and West to win the race last year.
I would love to see him defending his title. Should be a really exciting race with such a stacked field.

I adopted my father's approach to '13' deeming it actually 'lucky'. Our (my) first home was 13 Portsea Mews: and then the long term family home was numbered '148' which has an interim digit sum of . . . 13.
