I have a couple of friends who signed up for the OC triathlon which then was cancelled and replaced by a duathlon. Unfortunatelly my friends did not intend to do the Duathlon and tried to get a refund. They are still waiting for both refunds and a returned call or email. I want to know if you have encountered the same problem or if your refund has been sent to you already. I hope it's just an isolated case rather than the norm.

i was in the same boat as your friends, signed up for the tri and did not want to do the du. i got my money back. bill leach answered all my emails and phone calls. he and his crew are a class act so i think there may have been some type of mix up for your friends.
did they fill out the refund sheet and mail(us postal) it back to the rd? you had to indicate what you wanted to do with your refund.

I got a refund form in the mail and filled it out and returned it, and got my refund check. Then, I decided to do the duathlon and paid again.
