Looks to be a Bontrager prototype with a longer tail than the Kask Bambino.

That's a different helmet than the one I meant.

Both look fast though.

Would make sense. Riders on TFR are using Trek & Bontrager for literally every single component & apparel piece.

Aero helmet & sunglasses are about the only things I can think of that wouldn't be Bontrager branded.

That said, I've heard nothing in the industry yet of a new Bontrager tt helmet. Though I've not had my noggin in a Velocis yet, their previous helmets have left a bit to be desired.

I'm probably wrong BUT... isn't Kask Bambino illegal in the US? That helmet looks identical but longer in the back (just like you said)... Soooo, wouldn't that mean this is illegal in the US?

Looks awesome though. Sell that shit in highlighter yellow and I'm all over it.

From what I understand helmets (manufactured after March 10, 1999) raced in the U.S. in USAT events (including WTC) must be CPSC Certified. Bambino helmets sold in the U.S. should meet the CPSC standard. Of course there could be exceptions to that if one were to buy the helmet from Europe, from an online auction site, etc.

There have been exceptions to the CPSC rule: http://www.slowtwitch.com/..._upheaval__4013.html but I certainly wouldn't want to rely on using that case study.

And this is why I'm wrong (and thought I was wrong)... I'm confusing the Koi with the Bambino.. my bad.

Another highlight for me was the boa closure shoes. The last for bontrager seems to work well for me and I really like the boa closure, so hopefully something is coming

Not sure. Even my contacts at Trek wouldn't tell me if I asked.

I would speculate that Bontrager would like to get an aero helmet on the market and that they have the leverage and know-how to get it U.S. and intl. certified probably as fast as anyone.

I also saw a new one from Catlike during the Giro. you can see it here at 4:21. This doesn't match the website so I assume it will be coming down the pipeline soon? Not sure if any insiders have further details.

Integrated visor makes me pessimistic about how aero it will be :/

Haha! :)

I'm confused by the integrated visors. I've seen reports that some helmets test better without the visors and the rider wearing regular sport shield glasses. Yet with the visors on, with the rider riding, the whole set up looks more aero!

As has been said many times here on ST, the eye is not a very good wind tunnel. Honestly, I can't think of reading a report where a helmet tested faster with a visor. I know there are some cases of parity.

I've read reports that the Giro Selector was designed with the visor in mind and is more aero with it. The actual data wasn't provided, though.

I heard it will retail for $275 in the USA.

I must admit I thought the store I linked to was selling in Euros rather than pounds.

Regardless, $275 is less than the Kask Bambino and the Poc Cerebral. It's about the same price as the Lazer Wasp Air.

I'm quite surprised Giro hasn't brought the Selector short-tail to market which has been see in the pro TT ranks for years now.
