New Safety-Minded Kickstarter

Just got this alert from Kickstarter about reflective socks - don't know anything about the "eye-motion" science but dig the concept...

Consider this a public plea - I almost hit a man last night running through a crosswalk wearing dark clothes and no reflective gear, and this isn't the first time... I know most of us are very safety-conscious so we likely have other methods of being seen already (I wear a reflective vest as well as a strobe light in back and headlamp in front) but if not, GET SOMETHING SO I DON'T HIT YOU!

I should add I have no affiliation with the product, but backed it and hope it goes through so I can get my socks!

Those are pretty cool! I'll back them.

Will be great for bike commuting in winter and gets dark early.

I don't have any problem with reflective socks, but can't help but thinking the obvious reality that a big reflective $10 reflective strap vest off Amazon is likely a lot more versatile and more visible.

Seems the reflectiveness lasts up to 50 washes ... that may be an issue for some. Color me interested but not completely comfortable with longevity.

I agree. I think if their price point sticks around $10 and they are good quality and comfortable socks for cycling, running then it's a good idea. I'm not thrilled about the 50 wash durability since if you wear them cycling and running you'd hit that 50 mark pretty quickly. Not that they'd fall apart or anything at 50. You can get ankle/armband straps for $5.99 on amazon. For cycling I have rear blinking light, front blinking light, blinking light on back of my helmet, and normally a neon jersey. I don't ride at night but still make sure I do what I can to be visible. For running in the dark, I have a neon hat, headlamp, the blinking safety lights below attached to back of hat, and I have some 2xu running tights that are pretty reflective.
