I'm looking to ride around the New Paltz, Modena and Gardiner area Friday. I am familiar with the area but never did ride up there at all. It's been about 4 years since I have been up there. Which roads should I stay on...which ones should I stay off of?Just looking at the map, are routes 44,55,208,7 and 299 bike friendly and safe? Shoulder? Is the road up to Minnewaska safe on a bike? Is there a main loop that people usually ride? Where is the best place to park and step off from? Thanks!

Hi Daveg,
I'm not an expert on those roads (I live about an hour away), however, you can't go wrong on the American Zofingen course.

There's still some fall foliage action, but the leaf peepers are generally gone, so the traffic is low.
Good luck!
