The new Evade looks a lot more similar to the Bonty Ballista now... Rounder and less elongated than the old Evade, more "exhaust vents".

I've had my Evade for going on three years, and maybe after another year or two would consider replacing it - new version looks nice.

Completely unrelated question, but can someone explain why 'real' bikers wear tall socks?

Covering up the ankle bone is a benefit in crashes....even a little bit of material can help avoid or minimize road rash....any higher than that....Fashion :)

There doesn't look to be a huge change in either of them to me!

The shorter tail on the Evade might be a bit more aero if you're in the habit of riding with your head down, but other than that it looks very similar. And the shoes look identical other than those hideously massive Boa dials!

Both of the previous generation shoes and helmets were well received and pretty good against the competition. I would expect the new shoes to be some percentage lighter...maybe a little stiffer, maybe a little more aero (hard to imagine w/ the boas as big as they are). I would expect the new helmet to be a small percentage more aero, maybe a little bit lighter, maybe a little bit more ventilated. In neither case would I expect a revolutionary advancement, despite what the marketing folks might say.

Personally I'm waiting for the new sub zero shoes....just because I need to replace my current ones and they don't currently have any stock of my size.

The toebox profile on the new version is very different. The old ones were very round, the new ones seem sculpted and more angular - more "foot-shaped"? The S-Works 6 was known to have a roomy toe box but these look even bigger. Unless this specific one is a pro-only custom last, of course.

that's what I immediately thought, but wasn't sure if it was just the paint scheme that made it look like that.

That Evade looks an awful lot like my Bontrager Ballista.

Ugh did they potentially slow the evade down by cutting the tail? Might not make a difference in a road position but what about a tt position...

Slower for one person, faster for another. Here's the thing about using road helmets for a TT position: either your head is low enough that you're fairly agnostic to helmet choice (Kienle is a good example, ~1w difference for him between the Scott Cadence and the Split) or your head is in a position where you should really be using a proper TT helmet (e.g. 8-10w difference between the best TT helmet and the best road helmet).

I like these new colors more than their current offerings. Maybe there is a new TT helmet coming too? And a new Shiv! or...maybe not the Shiv haha

Taller socks=more room for sponsor names and logos!

I like my S-Works shoes, but you know what I'm always telling myself: These would have better if the Boa dial was even bulkier and stuck out farther!

Specialized has really nailed it with the bulky, protruding Boa dial.

I train in a very hot and humid environment and ride in short socks for running and long socks for when I'm out on my road bike.

I think the biggest benefit of the long socks is that they keep my feet dry. The sweat running down my calves is absorbed by the sock and evaporates before getting into my shoes.
