Mont Tremblant IM swim question strategy
Hi
I am not a strong swimmer picked up later in life. MY IM at lake placid was 1:33 so wasn't last but not many bikes left in T-1. Since this is a wave start I am trying to have the smoothest route possible for a slow swimmer. Any advice- besides going wide? A friend suggested since I am slow to swim inside the buoys since she didnt want me to swim any longer than the 2.4..Or I am just over thinking this- go at the end of my age group wave and swim and just deal with the other waves catching me when it happens.

thx

Start with your wave. Start in the back of you wave. Just walk in when everyone else runs. And swim your race. I had a slow swim there last year and it seemed like people were swimming over me every few minutes. I just stayed close to the buoys (they were pretty clear you weren't supposed to be inside them). It wasn't bad. It's a long leg out though, and a long leg back. You get an appreciation for the swim when you're looking at it laid out all week. Good luck.
